Conduct a survey on the employees regarding their frustrations on the existing technology using the XXX template. (Add strengths and weaknesses into the template, can consider removing feelings
Prepare a list of features and functions of existing software and hardware that are rarely utilized by the employees.
Is the organization misusing their existing stack rather than using it to its full potential and still running into problems?
Are there certain business units or regions using different technologies that do the same thing?
Are there teams that utilizes more of a specific technology solution compared to the other?
List all the software used for each department using the XXXX template.
Can their assets be reallocated or enhanced to improve efficiency and productivity?
Using the XXXX template, categorize and rank the most important problems for comparisons and priority problem solving.
Document the tasks that needs to be supported by technology and identify the features and capabilities your technologies should have.
Determine appropriate vendors to consider and hire based on high-level requirements.
Compare trade-offs of each shortlisted vendors with the scoring template. The evaluation criteria are usually listed in three main categories: economics, technology (including environmental) and commercial, with a corresponding weightage for each category.
Never go digital for the sake of ‘going digital. Instead, ensure that your stakeholders are clear about the objectives, investments, processes and the desired outcomes.”
Provide FAQs and troubleshooting help online (self service).
Launch a pilot test in a live environment as soon as possible. Launch the test in a single country or department, or perhaps just make it a test of one-use case. Proactively capture lessons learned before moving on to a broader set of rollouts.
